The infinitely sad events of the fifth post-Atlantean epoch

All teaching, all pedagogy, all human education, and the whole outer human life must be imbued with spiritual insights in the course of the fifth post-Atlantean epoch (1413-3573). It must be realised that what is today considered science in materialistic circles must gradually disappear with its consequences from the life of the earth.

And all the struggles that will still have to be endured in the fifth post-Atlantic period will only be an outward expression of a spiritual battle, just as the present war is ultimately also an outward expression of the opposition between materialism and the spiritual world view. For however deeply things may be hidden – behind the infinitely sad events of the present time lies the struggle of materialism against the spiritual worldview.

This battle must be fought. It will take different forms, but it will have to be fought because people will have to learn to endure whatever is necessary to acquire the spiritual worldview for the sixth post-Atlantic period.

Ability to Receive Anthroposophy Limited

If one presents a public lecture about spiritual science or anthroposophy, then one is forced to take into account the inability to take in what is offered, by the contemporary world, one must be very much aware of this limited ability. One has to be clearly conscious of the fact that in our time, although there is an influx of insights streaming in from the spiritual world, insights which are necessary for humankind today, it is very difficult nowadays to be uninhibited in taking these truths in. Most people who are not well prepared to receive it will experience the deeper spiritual-scientific truths as a shock, as something which appears as fantastic or as a dream.

Spiritual scientific insights/Practice of everyday life

The quest for insight only for the sake of gaining insight would be egotistical. Whoever searches for cognizance in order to acquire vision of higher worlds is acting selfishly. But he who wants to apply this insight directly in the practice of everyday life is working on the continuation of the evolution of future mankind. It is very important to learn how to transform spiritual scientific insights ever more energetically into practical deed.
