We can observe how a person who understands the doctrine of karma in such a way, that he says to himself: I will refrain from doing evil, because it will result in bad fruits for me, and I will do what is good, as it will bring me good fruits -, will in time, under the influence of this law, nevertheless have his egotistical disposition transformed into an unselfish one. And we see this selfishness in actuality blossoming into selflessness.
